Essential Oil Lozenges, Lollipops, or Candy

These lozenges are fun & easy to make...not to mention having the added benefit of therapeutic-grade essential oils! Great for the home, office, or in a gift basket! Get some Young Living Thieves oil blend and lets get started!   (Thanks goes to Mama's Essential Oil Cabinet for the initial recipe!)

INGREDIENTS

1 cup honey
YL Thieves Vitality essential oil blend
YL Lemon Vitality essential oil
1 tsp butter (to reduce foaming)
Parchment paper or silicone mold

DIRECTIONS

Bring honey to boil over medium (then reduce to low) heat, to 300' using a candy thermometer.  It will take a while..maybe 10-20 minutes.  Stir often and reduce heat so it doesn't boil over!  Honey can burn easily.  If you think it might be starting to burn then go ahead and take it off the heat (even at 250' it can be made..it will just take longer to firm and will not be super HARD in the end).  Add the teaspoon of butter if you want to reduce foaming.

Allow to cool for several minutes, until it starts to thicken.  You don't want to ruin the oils benefits by having it too hot!  Add 12 drops of Thieves Vitality and 8 drops of lemon Vitality.   I enjoyed this combo but you can start out with less and add more to taste (don't taste the HOT liquid!  You'll have to cool a sample over ice first).

There are a couple of ways you can make the lozenge shape.  You can use this silicone mold I got for a few dollars on ebay (pops out super easy after cooling).  I prefer them filled only 1/3 or 1/2 of the way.
Or, If you don't have a silicone mold, simply line a cake pan or cookie sheet with PARCHMENT paper , then gently pour the good onto it, like this...

After it has cooled enough to make an indent in, roll it up into a tube like a playdoh snake (to the thickness you want) and cut into pieces w/ a knife.

And this is what you will end up with!

If you use the mold, simply pop them out when firmed.  You MAY use a sharp knife to press and indent all the way into them and then snap off quickly from the knife, especially if you filled the mold all the way...

Wrap in PARCHMENT paper (not wax) for future use.

If you would rather make lolipops, you can lay sticks (even popsicle  sticks would work) on parchment (or use a lolipop kit) and pour a bit of the goo on them til firm.   If you don't want the lozenge flavor then simply use some orange/tangerine, lemon, or lime (whatever you like) instead!

*You could also make glass candy if you got to the 300' stage.  Just let the goo harden on the parchment-lined pan and then hit it with a hammer to bust it up.  Dust with cornstarch to keep it from sticking and toss in a baggie for sharing with friends :)
